Bio

Amanda is a mom of a homeschooling wild child and the founder and owner of Wild Fauna Nature Play!

Amanda completed her schooling in the Child and Youth Care Practitioner program and has worked with children youth and teens for over 11 years in a variety of settings, including but not limited to, group homes, forest schools, community centers. Amanda also ran her own home daycare and volunteers with Camp Quality (camps for kids with cancer and blood disorders). She is always learning and growing as she is currently doing courses such as “Designing a Nature Program” With Forest Schooled (Caylin Gans), online workshops and forest school conferences.

She enjoys educational learning opportunities through child-led learning and learning through play in nature.

One of my passions is building up children and youths’ confidence and self-esteem, while supporting advocacy and creating a safe place for BIPOC & LGBTQQIP2SA+ and persons with disabilities.

She is motivated in supporting children using nature, gardening skills, and caring for all animals and insects as they are a very important part of our environment. Nature play is a big factor on how she sees children/youth thrive by going for hikes, going to the forest just to play, climbing trees, build fires and reading books outside.

She believes this provides children and youth with:

 - More freedom

- More bravery

- More imagination

- Able to thrive in self regulation

I am looking forward to supporting you and your child(ren).

We want to acknowledge that we play, learn & explore on the stolen lands and unceeded Anishinabewaki territory of the Anishinaabe people; and the lands of the Omamiwininiwag (Algonquin) people and Kanien'kehá:ka (Mohawk) people of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy of six nations.

We offer an inclusive space by honoring everyone’s unique being, their race, their individual beliefs, language, religion & gender identities & fluidities. We honor our human peer’s pronouns and consistently respect & use them. We extend love to all our living relations by fully respecting all individual needs without judgment.
