2 Reasons Why We Take a 2 Month Pause on Programs in May and June

First off, we miss you all so, so much! We know it can feel like a long wait between our spring programs and the start of summer fun in July — but there are some good reasons why we wrap things up at the end of April and close for May and June. Let’s just say… it’s all about the bear necessities! 🐻

Okay, but in all seriousness — let’s talk about the bugs.

As you can imagine, the forest can get really buggy this time of year. And while we love nature in all its wild glory, we also want to make sure everyone has a good experience. If we know the bugs will be too intense, we’d rather wait than risk our time being ruined by too many itchy distractions.

During the summer months, we always take safety precautions: we offer bug spray (with permission, of course), encourage bug jackets and hats, and share tips for dressing smart on extra-buggy days. But sometimes? There really is such a thing as too many bugs!

The Second Reason? Prep Time!

Summer is by far our busiest (and most exciting!) season. We use May and June to get everything ready for the adventures ahead. That means researching new crafts and activities, training in new teaching techniques, stocking up on cabin supplies, and prepping for more kids than ever before!

Behind the scenes, we’re working hard to make sure this summer is the best one yet — and we can’t wait to welcome you back in July.
